Search Madison County Released Inmates

Madison County released inmates leave the current jail roster when the county no longer reports them in that facility, but absence alone does not prove a return to the community. A search for Madison County released inmates must separate a true release from a transfer to state, federal, or other local custody. County movement records, court orders, state corrections records, and supervision data answer different parts of that question. To look up a released Madison County inmate, start with the last known custodian, match reliable identifiers, and confirm the event with the office that made the movement.

Madison County Release Meanings

A Madison County jail release is a movement recorded against one booking episode. It can mean bond was posted, a court ordered release, a local sentence ended, charges were dismissed, or time served was credited. It can also describe the sheriff giving physical custody to another agency. That last event is a departure from the Madison County Detention Center, but it is not freedom. A receiving-agency field is often the fact that resolves the difference.

The official detention-center gateway leads to a current-only report. A released person normally drops from that report. The sheriff keeps the county booking and movement record, the court keeps the legal order, and the Mississippi Department of Corrections keeps state-sentence and supervision records. Federal cases have a separate chain. Each source should be read for the question it can truly answer.

Release
A physical departure that may be to the community or another custodian.
Transfer
A handoff that continues custody under another agency.
Discharge
The end of the authority identified in the record, which may occur after physical release.
Time served
A court-recognized completion of a custodial term, subject to any other hold.

Madison County Release Paths

Release labels must be paired with their authority and destination. Bond is not a dismissal. Parole and Earned Release Supervision end secure confinement but retain MDOC control. A transfer to MDOC, another county, or the U.S. Marshals Service continues custody. Madison County released inmate records are most useful when the movement type is read beside the court case and receiving agency.

Madison County Release Record Fields

There is no single universal release certificate. Ask for the existing booking and release or movement record tied to the exact booking. Useful identity fields connect the event to the right person, while movement fields show whether custody ended or changed hands. A code legend should be requested when the jail system uses abbreviations. Do not match a common name by itself.

FieldWhat it shows
Legal name, aliases, DOBIdentity used for the booking
Booking or inmate numberThe specific county custody episode
Arrest and intake date/timeWhen the episode began
Charges, case numbers, courtThe proceedings connected to custody
Bond and holdsRelease conditions or another agency claim
Release or movement date/timeWhen the sheriff recorded departure
Release type and authorityWhy staff processed the movement
Receiving agencyWhether custody continued elsewhere

A booking photograph should be requested as a separate item. The current Madison County report reviewed for this project showed no photo, release reason, destination, or historical range. Those omissions from the web report do not prove that the fields are absent from the sheriff's internal records.

Request Madison County Release Records

The Mississippi Public Records Act gives access to public records unless a statute or court order protects them. Madison County did not publish a dedicated jail-record form, fixed fee schedule, or records-counter hours in the reviewed sources. Begin with the Sheriff’s Department contact office at 2941 U.S. Highway 51, Canton, MS 39046, 601-859-2345, or call the Detention Center at 601-855-0739 to identify the custodian and accepted submission method.

  1. Identify the person by full name, date of birth, booking number if known, and a narrow date range.
  2. Ask for the existing booking and release or movement record, including date, time, type, authority, holds, and receiving agency.
  3. Request the booking photograph separately, and ask for nonexempt fields after lawful redaction.
  4. Ask for an itemized estimate before costs exceed a limit you state. Mississippi law permits actual-cost fees.
  5. Keep the request, acknowledgment, estimate, response, and any field legend together.

Section 25-61-5 governs procedural timing. If production cannot occur within seven working days, the public body must give the written explanation required by the current law. The office need not create a new spreadsheet that it does not keep, so ask to inspect an existing movement screen, release log, daily movement report, custody history, or booking jacket.

Note: Administrative retention can outlast online display, so a vanished web entry may still exist in the sheriff’s records.

Madison County Record Limits

The current Mississippi Code places the Public Records Act at Miss. Code Ann. §§25-61-1 through 25-61-19. Section 25-61-3 broadly defines public records, §25-61-5 addresses access and timing, and §25-61-7 permits reasonable actual-cost fees. The Mississippi Ethics Commission publishes guidance and handles public-record complaints.

Access is not absolute. Active investigative material, confidential sources, security information, medical data, youth-court records, victim details, sealed matters, expunged matters, and other protected content may be withheld. Ask the custodian to redact exempt information and produce the rest. Expungement under provisions that include §§99-15-26 and 99-19-71 can restrict a once-searchable record. A missing docket may also reflect spelling, migration, or access limits, so it should not be used alone to draw a legal conclusion.

Find Madison County Released Inmates

The strongest search begins with custody, not residence. Decide whether the last known authority was the Madison County Detention Center, MDOC, a federal agency, or immigration custody. Then preserve dates and identifiers as you move between systems. The county's 24-hour release process explains how to check a same-day event when no official released feed exists.

  1. Check the dated county current list. If the person appears, the report still shows county custody; if absent, note the report time and keep checking.
  2. Call the detention center with the name, DOB, and booking ID. Ask whether the movement was community release or transfer.
  3. Search Mississippi VINE for custody status and an event alert, then confirm a conflict with the jail.
  4. Use the court docket for the bond, dismissal, sentence, revocation, or time-served order that authorized the event.
  5. Search MDOC inmate and parolee tools if the county reports a state transfer or supervision.
  6. Submit a narrow records request when the online paths do not settle the movement.
  7. Branch to PACER, BOP, or ICE only when the case facts show federal or immigration custody.

For an older Madison County released inmate, start with the docket and a sheriff request because the current roster has no archive. For an MDOC discharge, use state records and the sentencing docket. For parole or ERS, distinguish release from a prison building from the later end of sentence jurisdiction.

Madison Release Dates Differ

Madison County searches can expose several dates that answer different questions. A Tentative Release Date anticipates an event after MDOC applies the sentence, credits, eligibility rules, and current information. An ERS date concerns eligibility to serve an eligible remainder under supervision. A parole eligibility date marks possible Board consideration. Flat Time Date identifies the unshortened sentence endpoint used in time computation.

The actual date of release comes from a completed custody movement. Preserve the end of secure confinement, the start of supervision, and final discharge as separate milestones when the record supplies them. Earned-time loss, restored credits, jail-credit corrections, consecutive terms, a detainer, a new judgment, residence approval, or another legal change can move the tentative date. The dedicated Madison County projected release date resource explains the calculation and its limits.

Madison Court Orders Explain Release

Madison County criminal records route through the Twentieth Circuit MEC, while municipal and justice cases can remain in their own courts. The jail timestamp proves that staff processed physical movement. A court order explains the legal authority, such as bond, dismissal, sentencing, time served, or revocation. Neither source replaces the other.

Start with the Mississippi Electronic Courts selector and choose the correct court. The Twentieth Circuit MEC gateway is the direct route for qualifying Madison County circuit criminal matters. The official selector image below shows the path to Madison County entries.

The court gateway helps locate a case number and order, while the detention center remains the source for the actual departure time. If a document is not online, ask the Madison County Circuit Clerk or the clerk for the court of jurisdiction to inspect or copy it.

Madison County Recent Release Gap

No official 24-hour or 72-hour Madison County released-inmate view was verified. The DCS-hosted report observed during research was a static “CURRENT INMATE LISTING” with a 6:00 a.m. run time. It included name, inmate ID, birth information, intake date and time, arresting agency, and charge. It did not include release time, reason, destination, photograph, released tab, or archive.

A person processed after the report run could be missing from that snapshot, while someone released after the run could remain until the next snapshot. That is why browser time is less useful than report time. Save the visible timestamp, call the detention center, and request the movement classification. The official sheriff mobile app is another channel, but its current release and mugshot features were not verified, so app silence is not confirmation.

Note: Ask for an exact date range and existing movement report, while keeping community releases separate from agency transfers.

Madison County Release Supervision

The Mississippi State Parole Board makes parole decisions. MDOC Community Corrections supervises parole, probation, post-release supervision, ERS, and court-ordered house arrest. A person released from prison may still have an officer, reporting duties, conditions, and a future flat-time date. The parolee search is more useful than the prison search when the identified person is believed to be living in the community under MDOC supervision.

Madison County also hosts the MDOC Technical Violation Center. A result locating a person there signals renewed secure confinement for a supervision violation, not a community release. Departure can mean a return to supervision or a transfer to another MDOC bed. Check both state searches and ask MDOC Records whether jurisdiction has ended.

Madison Release Alerts and Locators

Mississippi uses MS SAVIN through VINE/VINELink for county and state booking-system events. A person can be searched by name and available identifier, and notification enrollment may cover release, transfer, rehousing, return to custody, or escape events. The Registration Link can carry an enrollment from a county case into MDOC or other custody. VINE is an alert and corroboration service, not a certified Madison County release record.

Federal paths differ. The BOP Inmate Locator may show “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” and a release date for eligible federal records. PACER supplies the judgment and release or detention orders. The ICE locator is current-oriented, so a missing result can mean release, removal, transfer, or a data mismatch. Always follow the last custodian and case facts.

Federal Moves From Madison Jail

Madison County Jail has a documented U.S. Marshals Service detention agreement. A federal detainee who leaves the Canton building may still be a USMS prisoner headed to court, another contract jail, or a BOP facility. County roster disappearance is therefore weak evidence of federal release.

Read the county movement field for the receiving agency, then search the federal docket for a release or detention order. Once a sentenced person is designated, check BOP. USMS has no public historical roster comparable to the BOP locator, so the docket, counsel, holding facility, and appropriate federal contact form the practical chain. A later supervised-release term also differs from BOP custody and from a final discharge.

Madison Release or Current Custody

Choose a source by system and event. A current roster answers who the jail reports now. A movement record answers how the person left. State and federal tools cover their own custody, not all Madison County bookings.

Madison County Release Facilities

The Madison County Detention Center is the central county-custody endpoint. The MDOC Technical Violation Center holds people sanctioned for supervision violations. Canton, Flora, Madison, and Ridgeland police entries describe arresting or short-term holding functions, not verified independent long-term release archives. Federal beds at the county jail add a USMS custody branch.

A release from one building is not always release from all custody. The movement type and receiving agency remain the decisive fields across Madison County released inmate searches.
